James "Steve" Ogle

Steve Ogle, 78, of Hico, TX passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2017 while surrounded by his family. Steve was born to the late Robert and Nell Ogle on October 13, 1939 in Hico, Texas. Steve attended school in Hico and following a stint in the Texas National Guard. Then Steve married the love of his life, Judy Ogle on August 24, 1963. The two quickly grew their family and began building a legacy of hard work and dedication. Steve hauled cattle all over the country, raised hogs, and started his own cattle company about 1979 and was later joined by his son Brian, forming what is now Ogle & Ogle Cattle Co. Steve was a devoted father and was blessed with 3 wonderful children. Lauri, Robyn, and Brian would bring the greatest joy to the lives of Steve and Judy, making their home a place filled with laughter and much energy. The kids were all involved in extra-curricular activities throughout school and Steve was so proud of their achievements in track, basketball, and even rodeo. Later Steve and Judy would welcome 5 grandchildren into their lives whom they loved dearly. Steve loved to take his grandchildren out to feed and work cattle. He would teach them so much about life, hard work, and how to kick back in the recliner and take a good nap. Steve had a great sense of humor, and was always willing to listen to a good story. Along with this, Steve had a big heart and was giving to so many throughout his life. He truly cared for the well-being of others and always tried to see the best in people. Survivors include wife, Judy Ogle, grandchildren, Kyle and Haley Ogle, Brady and Beccah Lee, Kayla Lee, Hallie and Lance McFarlin, Jessica Ogle; great-grandchildren Aubrey Lee, Piper Ogle, Jude Ogle, Luke McFarlin, Dantyn Douglas, and 2 more expected later this year; brother and sister-in-law Montye and Dixie Ogle, sister Janell Sorenson, brother and sister-in-law David and Deena Ogle, brother and sister in-law Jimmy and Tammy Helton, a host of nieces nephews, Mondo Herrera of Hico, and many other friends and family members. Steve was preceded in death by his daughters, Lauri Lee and Robyn Ogle; son, Brian Ogle; brother, Bobby Ogle; sister, Mary Meyer; parents, Robert and Nell Ogle. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday January 13th, at Duffau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers people are encouraged to donate to the charity of their choice
