Cole Robert McCown

Cole Was born on June 26, 1985 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of Jennifer and Barry Finstad and Jerry and Fran McCown. Cole attended St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was confirmed on 1997 . Cole attended school at Cranfills Gap and graduated from Hico High School in 2004. He received his Bachelors degree in agricultural economics from Texas Tech University in 2015. Cole spent five years working in the oil and gas industry in Texas, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma. After he returned to Lubbock, Texas to finish his degree, he began working in the concrete business. After managing a concrete plant there, he relocated to the Fort Worth area for a management position with City Concrete in Rhome. Throughout Cole’s younger days, he was actively involved in 4-H as a District Officer, FFA exhibiting swine and heifers, Pro Youth Rodeo Association, CTYRA Rodeo Association, football, tennis and basketball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and many friends. Cole was an entertainer. He entertained thousands at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the calf scramble as he fiercely held on to the calf that drug him around the Astrodome, all the while being broadcasted on the JumboTron for what seemed like forever. Determination and perseverance were traits that Cole developed, even at a young age. Cole was tenacious in every aspect of his life. He overcame a serious health issue to go on and finish his college degree at Texas Tech. Cole never met a stranger, he had a network of friends bigger than Texas. He was hilarious, kind, hardworking, and sometimes inappropriate; “he didn’t just say he would go to bat for his friends – he did.” Cole was preceded in death by his grandparents, his cousins Lexie Finstad, Tracy Finstad, and Jennifer Baumgarten. He is survived by his parents Barry and Jennifer Finstad, Jerry and Fran McCown of Knox City, a brother Casey Finstad, a sister Cara Finstad DVM, and girlfriend Corissa Porter, and grandmother Geneva Finstad. He is also survived by many close cousins, aunts and uncles. Cole was so easy to love, he captured your heart and made you laugh until you cried. He will be forever missed and remembered when we recount all the special moments we shared with him. Gone too soon, but living his best life in heaven looking down over all of us.
