Duane Nathaniel Addison

Duane Nathaniel Addison, born August 30, 1960 in San Antiono, Texas to parents Raymond and Rachel Addison, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 2023. Duane was a 1978 graduate of Hico High School, then later graduated from Texas Aero Tech with a degree in Aviation Mechanics. In his younger years, he was a force to be reckoned with on the football field, competing in track, throwing shot put and discus. Duane received a football scholarship to Texas A&M, but he went to work full-time instead. For 30 years, Duane worked as a machinist at FMC in Stephenville. His most recent job was serving Hico Nursing Home and Rehab and Hill Country Estates, as their Maintenance Supervisor. Duane enjoyed the opportunity to visit with the people who lived and worked there. As a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Hico, Duane served for several years as co-youth director with his wife, Denise. During those years, Duane took the youth group on several mission trips in the states surrounding Texas. He was also part of a local team of volunteers, who built wheelchair ramps around Hico and Hamilton for the Texas Ramp Project. Duane was a wonderful son to his mom, Rachel, a great husband and best friend to Denise, and a good dad to his boys Rhody, Dillon and Jace. He was extremely proud of each of his kids and also dearly loved Ashli, Norm, and Kayla. Duane loved spending time with family, and spending time on the farm and enjoyed looking after his cows. He was affectionately known by family and friends as “Pops” and “Big D”. One of Duane’s very favorite things in life was being “Dandy” to his beloved grandchildren, Rhyder and Kambri. Preceding Duane in death was his father, Raymond Addison. Surviving Duane are his wife, Denise Addison; sons, Rhody Addison and wife Ashli, Dillon Addison and partner Norm Ames, and Jace Addison and wife Kayla; grandchildren, Rhyder and Kambri Addison; mother, Rachel Addison; and sister, Pam Addison Hall and husband Ken. Duane is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Graveside Service 11:00am on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Duffau Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church, Hico, Texas.
