June Arendt

September 24, 1924 - February 18, 2021

Beverly June Arendt of Hico and Stephenville Texas went to be with her Lord at the age of 96 on February 18, 2021. She was born in Shackleford County on September 4, 1924 to E.D. and Mollie Hale. She grew up in Albany Texas where she met her best friend for life, H.C. Arendt. During WW 11, June worked as a riveter at Shepherd Air Force Base. Soon after H.C. returned from serving in the Army during the war, they were married on October 11, 1945. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years together. H.C. and June were blessed with two sons, Chas and Bud and one daughter Janie. The Arendt family grew to one great, great, grandson, 12 great grandchildren and 5 grandchildren. June was know to family and friends as; Granny, Aunt June, Miss June and June Bug. She retired from the County Extension Service in Stephenville after 20 years as secretary. June loved people and loved serving them in her church, community and neighborhood. She also loved serving in the Beta Sigma Phi and PEO organizations for many years. One of her lasting legacies will be all her many paintings as she was a very talented artist. She also enjoyed decorating her church for special holidays for many years. What brought her great joy was cooking delicious meals for family and friends and she always had some type of cookies cooked for anyone who just dropped by. But after becoming "Granny," she loved taking care of and spending time with all the grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents E.D. and Mollie Hale and her husband H.C. Arendt. She is survived by her son Chas Arendt and wife Kay, son, Bud Arendt and wife Barbara and daughter Janie Holderman and husband Larry. June is also survived by her grandchildren; Kristi and Brad Smith, Tina and Randy McLean, Charla and Kyla Arendt, Cody Arendt and great-grandchildren; Mollie & Cody Collums, Jenna, Ricky, Heath, Tyler, and Leah McLean, Ashley and Bryson Holt, Laney and Lillian Benfer, Clayton, Colton and Cassidy Arendt, and one great-great-grandson, Colt Collums. June is also survived by her sister in law, Charlene Lietz and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday February 24th at Harvest Hills Funeral Home. The memorial service will be on Thursday February 25th at 10 am with the burial being at the Albany, Texas Cemetery at 2 pm.
