Margo Joy Battershell

March 22, 1938 - October 29, 2021

Margo Joy Partain Battershell was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus on October 29, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1938, in Hico, Texas. Margo is survived by her beloved husband, Ray Battershell; daughter, Daretta and David Brown; son, Jay and Tara Battershell; grandchildren, Rebecca Brown Jones, Travis Battershell, Beverly Brown Moya, Garrett Battershell, Emily Brown Gillespie, and Luke Battershell; great grandchildren, Hannah and Caleb Jones and Jude and Grace Battershell; brother-in-law, James Fuller; sisters-in-law Mary Nell Ard and Linda Partain; nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. Margo was preceded in death by her parents J.D. and Gladys Stone Partain; sister, Sheila Partain Fuller; and brothers, Sam Partain and Ron Partain. Margo graduated from Hico High School in 1956. On August 7, 1955, she married Ray Battershell and they committed their marriage and family to Jesus Christ. They celebrated 66 years of marriage in August, setting an example of faithfulness for all their family and friends. Margo and Ray raised their family in Arlington, Texas, where they were devoted members of Northside Baptist Church. When Ray retired in 1997, they moved home to Hico to live on the farm where she was raised. Margo deeply loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved encouraging and spending time with each one of them. Margo and Ray made the Blue House a very special place for their grandkids to visit. Margo was known for her many talents and interests. She served joyfully in the church in many areas, including 65 years of playing the piano. Her green thumb, inherited from her granddad, enabled her to fill her yards with beautiful flowers and plants. Margo delighted her children, family, and friends with hand-made decorated birthday cakes and personally designed cards for every occasion. Margo was also a gatherer, organizing reunions for family and Hico High school. One of her most noted hobbies was photography, as she collected pictures and video of ancestors, family, and events throughout her life. Margo’s purpose in life was to follow Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She warmly connected with everyone she met, making them feel valued and loved. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Friday morning, November 5, 2021, at the Duffau Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at the Hico Cemetery.
